White Oak Library District is excited to announce this year's Summer Reading Challenge: READING COLORS YOUR WORLD! SRC runs Monday, June 7 through Saturday, July 31, 2021.  This reading adventure will bring joy as we explore humanity, nature, culture, and science and show how libraries and reading can expand your world with kindness, growth, and embracing our communities. Everyone will be encouraged to tap into their creative side, try new things, and find beauty in diversity.Check out the video  staff created to learn about the Summer Reading Challenge   https://youtu.be/uY5Jch6mg70
Of course, the heart of the Summer Reading Challenge is READING! With incentives to keep everyone engaged, Reading Colors Your World is the best activity you and your family can sign up for this summer.

Patrons of all ages will find special enticements to keep reading; from collecting our colorful reading badges, attending fun-filled outdoor activities, creating your own artwork, and entering drawings to win unique gift baskets.

CHILDREN
(Birth to 6th grade)
Track your time reading in 15-minute increments. You can read ALL types of books, magazines, and audiobooks. After every two hours of reading, you earn a prize badge, and after six hours of reading, you've completed the Summer Reading Challenge! You'll receive a finishing prize, a book of your choosing, and a raffle ticket for an awesome surprise basket. Keep reading beyond six hours and earn more badges and more raffle tickets.

TEENS
(Grades 7 to 12)
Read six hours and color each part of a rainbow on your special log for each hour you read. We'll even give you sign-up crayons to start your creative journey! Complete your first log, and you'll receive a free book and a raffle ticket for a prize basket OR a gift card of your choice. Every additional log earns you one additional raffle ticket. Teens will also have cool badges to collect from the Crimson Knight badge for signing up to the Radical Rainbow badge for completing 18 hours of reading.

ADULTS
(18 years and Up)
We have super easy rules for busy adults. Grab a convenient wallet-sized card, and check off a color every time you read (50) pages OR read for one hour. Complete your first card (400 pages or 8 hours), and you earn a book of your choosing, and an entry ticket for the prize drawings. Keep on reading and earn more chances for the prize drawings, which are a selection of themed baskets and gift cards as drawing prizes.
