Summer Reading Challenge



Earn a chance at the fabulous Grand Prize!
Everyone who completes the Summer Reading Challenge (Adults, Teens, and Kids) gets a chance at for the Grand Prize, along with chances at the baskets and gift cards. If you the lucky winner of the Grand Prize, you'll choose between three fabulous prizes: A first-rate telescope; Camping Gear; or Year-long memberships to BOTH the Adler Planetarium and the Museum of Science and Industry. 


Fun for Kids Who Visit the Library! The wheel is back! Kids who can walk to those skipping into the 6th grade this Fall will earn spins on the wheel that equal prizes. Complete the Challenge and you receive a book to keep, a completion certificate, two entries into the prize drawing, including an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing (see above), and an invitation to the best Finale Party ever featuring a petting zoo, free hotdog lunch, games, prizes, and a Kona Ice treat on July 13th at the Crest Hill Branch -- made possible by Gold Sponsor NuMark of Crest Hill, Silver Sponsor Lockport Woman's Club, and Bronze Sponsor Willow Falls Homeowners Association.

Special perks for Teens! If you are entering the 7th grade, you can officially sign up for the TEEN CHALLENGE and hang out in the Teen Room. All teens entering grade 7 through the 1st year of college receive a cool punch card to track their reading. They will earn entries in the prize drawings just for reading! When they complete the punch card, they receive a book to keep and an invitation to the Finale Party featuring a free lunch, Kona Ice, and a rocket launch! Teens who attend a program during the summer, get to reach into the Black Hole for a prize.

Adults earn prizes, too! Chances at the prize baskets, gift certificates, and the Grand Prize -- all for reading.  Adults will track their reading on a planetary punch card. Just eight hours or 400 pages of reading gets you into the big drawings.
