Childrens Services Librarian - Lockport Branch (Full Time)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants interested in a full time Children’s Services Librarian positions at our Lockport Branch Library (to begin on or after June 28, 2026).  This position equals 40 hours per week and consists of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.

The selected candidate will be expected to provide a diverse range of professional children’s library services including planning and presenting library programs both in the library and at area schools, collection development, staffing the Children’s desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the Children’s Supervisor.

Minimum qualifications: Fully completed MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program required, with two years of experience preferred. Applicant should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicant will also be required to travel between library facilities as needed. Salary starts at $52,000 per year and increases commensurate with performance.

Adult & Teen Services Specialists - All Branches (Part Time)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is expanding its hours of operation.  Therefore, we are seeking applicants interested in 3 new part time Adult & Teen Services Specialist positions at our Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville Branch Libraries (to begin on or after June 28, 2026).  These positions equal 25 hours per week and consist of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. 

The selected candidate will be expected to provide a diverse range of library patron services including staffing the reference desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the Adult & Teen Services Supervisor.

Minimum qualifications: Must possess a Library Technical Assistant Certificate (LTA), or possess a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience.  Adult services/reference experience in a public library preferred.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris integrated library system is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary range begins at $20.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Circulation Clerks I - All Branches (Part Time)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois will soon be expanding its hours of operation.  Therefore, we are seeking applicants interested in 3 new part time Circulation Clerk I positions at our Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville Branch Libraries (to begin on or after June 28, 2026).  These positions equal 25 hours per week and consist of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.

The selected candidates will be expected to handle all aspects of patron services in a team atmosphere at our Circulation desk.  Excellent customer service / people skills are a must.  Position reports to the Circulation Supervisor.

The selected candidate will also undergo a 30 day probationary period, during which time they will be expected to demonstrate certain basic competencies that are considered a minimum requirement for carrying out the duties of the positions.  

Minimum qualifications: Must possess a high school diploma.  Relevant library experience is a plus. Spanish language skills are a plus.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases.  Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Clerk I salary range begins at $17.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Teen Focused Librarian - Romeoville Branch (Full Time)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking an energetic, creative and innovative librarian to fill a full time Librarian position in the Adult & Teen Services Department at our Romeoville Branch Library. We are looking to fill this position on or after June 28, 2026.  This position equals 40 hours per week.

The selected candidate will be expected to provide library services of interest to adults and teens including but not limited to reference and readers advisory services, programs, outreach, collection development, and delivery of diverse information services during varied, and at times non-traditional work hours. Position reports directly to the Adult & Teen Services Supervisor.
