Adult Services Librarian (Romeoville Branch)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking an energetic, creative, and innovative Adult/Reference librarian to fill a part time position at our Romeoville Branch Library.  This position equals 25 hours per week.

The selected candidate will be expected to work within a team of peers to provide a diverse range of professional library services including planning and presenting library programs, collection development, staffing the reference desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the Adult Services Supervisor.  

Minimum qualifications: Fully completed MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary begins at $18.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.  

The selected candidate will also undergo a 30 day probationary period, during which time they will be expected to demonstrate certain basic competencies that are considered a minimum requirement for carrying out the duties of this position.

Circulation Clerk I (Romeoville Branch)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants interested in a part time Circulation Clerk I position at our Romeoville Branch.  This position equals 25 hours per week.

The selected candidate will be expected to handle all aspects of patron services in a team atmosphere at our Circulation desk.  Excellent customer service / people skills are a must.  Position reports to the Circulation Supervisor.

The selected candidate will also undergo a 30 day probationary period, during which time they will be expected to demonstrate certain basic competencies that are considered a minimum requirement for carrying out the duties of the positions.  

Minimum qualifications: Must possess a high school diploma.  Relevant library experience is a plus.  Spanish language skills are a plus.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases.  Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Clerk I salary range begins at $10.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Head Custodian

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants for a full time Head Custodian position.  The Head Custodian will float as needed between our three locations to perform routine cleaning, snow removal, landscaping, meeting room setup and tear-down, and shift supervision of part-time custodial staff.  Requires ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision.  This position will be paid at the pay grade of Specialist as outlined by the library’s salary schedule, with a starting salary of $14.00 / hr.  This is a full time position with benefits.

Minimum qualifications: A high school diploma with 1 year relevant work experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive a full sized pickup truck or van.  Applicants should also have the ability to work a regular schedule, that can flex in times of need.  This position consists of regular morning/daytime hours 5 days per week, with the work shifts being Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.

Page/Shelver - Romeoville Branch

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants interested in filling a part time page/shelver position at our Romeoville Branch.  This part time position equals 15 hours per week.
 
Selected candidate will be expected to shelve all manner of library materials and perform other basic assistance to library staff as assigned.  Position reports to the Circulation Supervisor and the Branch Manager.  

Minimum qualifications: Must be of legal working age in the State of Illinois.  Applicants with a high school diploma and/or relevant library experience preferred.  Applicants should also have some familiarity with computers and electronic mail and possess the ability to work days, evenings and weekends as assigned.  Salary range begins at $9.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Are you a Librarian who would like to make a few extra dollars?

The White Oak Library District, with locations in Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville Illinois, is seeking librarians with professional ethics and strong public service skills to serve as short term substitute staffing at our public services desks. Ideal applicants will live or work in the area and be available to fill in when regular District staff shortages will leave our desks under-staffed (vacations, conferences, sick days, etc).

Substitute librarians will be expected to provide a diverse range of general library help desk services to all ages. These services will include answering reference questions, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and at times acting as the librarian in charge of the building.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program and reasonable availability to work occasional nights and or weekends. Applicant should have strong computer skills, including Internet and the use of online databases, as well as the ability to learn the basics of the Polaris automation system.

Applicant will also be required to travel between our three facilities, as needed. Salary range begins at $18.00 per hour and increases commensurate with experience and qualifications.
