Page/Shelver - Romeoville Branch

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants interested in filling a part time page/shelver position at our Romeoville Branch.  This part time position equals 15 hours per week.
 
Selected candidate will be expected to shelve all manner of library materials and perform other basic assistance to library staff as assigned.  Position reports to the Circulation Supervisor and the Branch Manager.  

Minimum qualifications: Must be of legal working age in the State of Illinois.  Applicants with a high school diploma and/or relevant library experience preferred.  Applicants should also have some familiarity with computers and electronic mail and possess the ability to work days, evenings and weekends as assigned.  Salary range begins at $9.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Children's Services Librarian - Romeoville Branch

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois, is seeking an energetic, creative and innovative Children’s librarian to fill a full time position at our Romeoville Branch.  This full time position equals 40 hours per week.  

The selected candidate will be expected to provide a diverse range of professional children’s library services including planning and presenting library programs both in the library and at area schools, collection development, staffing the Children’s desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the Children’s Supervisor.

Minimum qualifications: Fully completed MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program required, with two years of experience preferred. Applicant should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicant will also be required to travel between library facilities as needed. Salary starts at $18.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Information Technology Professional

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois, is seeking a skilled IT professional to fill one part time position. This position equals 25 hours per week. Selected candidate will work as a team with the IT Manager to provide a diverse range of IT support to a large and growing staff across three different library facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of relatable experience in the field of information technology required. Experience with the setup, operation, and maintenance of computer hardware is required. Knowledge of pc networks in a public use environment as well as the Polaris Database is a plus. Position reports directly to the I.T. Manager. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary range begins at $18.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Are you a Librarian who would like to make a few extra dollars?

The White Oak Library District, with locations in Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville Illinois, is seeking librarians with professional ethics and strong public service skills to serve as short term substitute staffing at our public services desks. Ideal applicants will live or work in the area and be available to fill in when regular District staff shortages will leave our desks under-staffed (vacations, conferences, sick days, etc).

Substitute librarians will be expected to provide a diverse range of general library help desk services to all ages. These services will include answering reference questions, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and at times acting as the librarian in charge of the building.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program and reasonable availability to work occasional nights and or weekends. Applicant should have strong computer skills, including Internet and the use of online databases, as well as the ability to learn the basics of the Polaris automation system.

Applicant will also be required to travel between our three facilities, as needed. Salary range begins at $18.00 per hour and increases commensurate with experience and qualifications.
