Adult & Teen Services Specialist - Crest Hill Branch

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants interested in filling a part-time position in the Adult & Teen Services Department at our Crest Hill Branch.  This part time position equals 18 hours per week.
 
The selected candidate will be expected to provide a diverse range of library patron services including staffing the reference desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the Adult & Teen Services Supervisor.

Minimum qualifications: Must possess a Library Technical Assistant Certificate (LTA), or possess a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience.  Adult services/reference experience in a public library preferred.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris integrated library system is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary range begins at $14.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Adult & Teen Services Supervisor - Crest Hill Branch

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois, is seeking an energetic, creative and innovative Supervisor for the Adult & Teen Services Department at our Crest Hill Branch.  This full time position equals 40 hours per week.  

The selected candidate will oversee a staff of four who are expected to provide a diverse range of professional library services including planning and presenting library programs and events (virtually, in the library, and occasionally at offsite locations), collection development, staffing the Adult Services desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the Branch Manager. The selected candidate must work collaboratively with fellow supervisors and managers to achieve District goals.

The selected candidate will also undergo a 30 day probationary period, during which time they will be expected to demonstrate certain basic competencies that are considered a minimum requirement for carrying out the duties of this position.  

Minimum qualifications: Must possess an MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Applicants should be computer savvy, and be fluent in the use of the Internet and online resources.  Ability to work days, evenings and weekends is required. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicant will also be required to travel between library facilities as needed. Salary starts at $20.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Children's Services Specialist - Crest Hill Branch

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants interested in filling a part time position in the  Children’s Services Department at our Crest Hill Branch Library.  This part time position equals 25 hours per week.

The selected candidate will be expected to provide a diverse range of library patron services relating to children, including assistance with library programs, collection development, staffing the Children’s desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks.  Position reports directly to the Children’s Supervisor.

Minimum qualifications: Must possess a Library Technical Assistant Certificate (LTA), or currently be attending an American Library Association accredited MLS graduate school, or possess a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience.  Children’s services experience in a public library preferred.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary range begins at $14.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Are you a Librarian who would like to make a few extra dollars?

The White Oak Library District, with locations in Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville Illinois is seeking librarians with professional ethics and strong public service skills to serve as short term substitute staffing at our public services desks. Ideal applicants will live or work in the area and be available to fill in when regular District staff shortages will leave our desks under-staffed (vacations, conferences, sick days, etc).

Substitute librarians will be expected to provide a diverse range of general library help desk services to all ages. These services will include answering reference questions, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and at times acting as the librarian in charge of the building.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program and reasonable availability to work occasional nights and or weekends. Applicant should have strong computer skills, including Internet and the use of online databases, as well as the ability to learn the basics of the Polaris automation system.

Applicant will also be required to travel between our three facilities, as needed. Salary range begins at $19.00 per hour and increases commensurate with experience and qualifications.
